Saint Paul Delasalle – Designed for the Future

Saint Paul Delasalle Private School, a respected educational institution located in Alimos, Athens, is known for its strong academic foundation and commitment to shaping socially aware, well-rounded individuals. With a deep appreciation for both tradition and innovation, the school continuously evolves to meet the demands of contemporary education. In a recent effort to enhance its learning spaces, Saint Paul Delasalle collaborated with STIRIXIS Group to reimagine and redesign the high school campus. The project aimed to create a vibrant, engaging, and future-ready environment that reflects the school’s values while supporting the diverse academic and well-being needs of its students.

The masterplan for Saint Paul Delasalle High School in Alimos was designed to create a cohesive, well-organized campus that supports both academic and recreational needs. The strategic layout of sports facilities, parking areas, and green spaces, all arranged to facilitate easy access and movement throughout the campus. The sports courts, including basketball, tennis, and soccer fields, are positioned to encourage active outdoor engagement, while shaded seating areas provide students with comfortable spots to relax and socialize.

The entire campus is structured to integrate seamlessly with its urban surroundings, creating a safe, inviting environment for students. STIRIXIS Group’s approach to the masterplan reflects a balanced vision, ensuring that each element, from learning spaces to recreation zones, contributes to a well-rounded, enjoyable educational experience.

Inside, the layout is designed to support student interaction and engagement. Wide, open corridors allow easy movement and gathering, while dedicated social spaces and common areas encourage students to connect, collaborate, and unwind between classes. The classrooms and study areas are furnished with ergonomically designed furniture, creating comfortable and practical spaces for focused learning.

A carefully selected color palette energizes the school environment, bringing warmth and vitality to each space. Bold colors like blues, yellows, and oranges feature throughout the school, adding a sense of playfulness and creativity. These colors are not just aesthetic choices but serve a purpose—promoting an inviting and fun atmosphere that helps reduce stress and keeps students engaged. Accents on walls and furniture create a lively contrast, making each area visually distinct and giving students a variety of atmospheres as they move through the building.

Sustainability was a key focus throughout this project. With bioclimatic design principles and energy-efficient upgrades, the school now operates with reduced energy consumption, benefiting both the environment and the community.

Flexibility was also key. In a world that is rapidly changing and the role of the school shifts from being place of instruction to a hub of exploration, creativity, and personal growth, the design needed to support adaptability. Classrooms and common areas were conceived with multipurpose use in mind—able to host traditional lessons, collaborative projects, or digital learning sessions. Mobile furniture, modular layouts, and easily reconfigurable spaces allow the school to evolve alongside the changing needs of students and educators, making it resilient for the future of education.

The relocation of the Helleno-French School “Saint-Paul,” a large and historic private educational institution, was a highly challenging project. The school after 130 years of continuous operation in Piraeus, was moved to Alimos, in an existing industrial building of 8,000 square meters total area. The objective was to create a modern and functional new school building, while preserving the identity and tradition of the old one. In this tremendous challenge, we had the support and collaboration of the STIRIXIS group. Through methodical planning and creativity, we jointly addressed the challenges of reconstructing the existing building, transforming it into a state-of-the-art educational facility, both in terms of functionality and aesthetics. We thank the STIRIXIS team for their collaboration and support throughout all phases of the project
