Saint Paul Delasalle Private School – Reimagining Education Spaces

Saint Paul Delasalle, a well-respected private educational institution in Alimos, has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and a commitment to fostering well-rounded, socially responsible students. Seeking to enhance their facilities to better support modern educational needs, Saint Paul Delasalle partnered with STIRIXIS Group to reimagine their high school as a space that reflects both tradition and innovation.

The transformation of Saint Paul Delasalle High School in Alimos by STIRIXIS Group brings a renewed sense of purpose to the learning environment, balancing modern functionality with a lively, welcoming atmosphere. This renovation respects the building’s architectural heritage while introducing thoughtful interior design elements that cater to the needs of today’s students.

The masterplan for Saint Paul Delasalle High School in Alimos was designed to create a cohesive, safe and well-organized campus that supports both academic and wellbeing needs. Parking areas, sports facilities and green spaces are all arranged to facilitate easy access and walkability throughout the entire campus. The sports courts, including basketball, tennis and soccer fields are positioned to encourage active outdoor engagement while shaded seated areas and an amphitheatre provide students with comfortable and socialisation-enhancing spaces. Restorative spaces that support being alone, together, like libraries, are important for students after the pandemic and are distributed around the campus. These limit overstimulation and can encourage slowing down, grounding and taking time to restore in between classes.

Inside, the design emphasizes creating a school environment that students enjoy. Abundant in natural lighting, wide corridors and energizing colours, the environment generates a positive mood and wellbeing. Each space serves each unique purpose, whether that is engagement and focused attention, play or socialization, or unwinding and relaxation. The classrooms include a minimalistic design with wide working areas and comfortable seating, while the corridors include bright and colourful graphics, furniture that encourage togetherness and lighting that acts as a guide, “gathering” students around social areas and encouraging movement and speed along central corridors. The library includes a mixture of seating options: arm chairs for casual reading, focused workstations for assignments and schoolwork and bleachers for group activities, transforming the library into a versatile space that can transition to a presentation venue.

Even in practical spaces such as lockers and classrooms, design choices were made to add a touch of fun. Custom-designed lockers and signage use bright colors and modern graphics, making these everyday elements feel fresh and engaging. From the main lobby to the library, every corner of the school has been designed with student engagement in mind, creating a space that feels both professional and youthful and actively shapes the next generation of thinkers and doers.

Saint Paul Delasalle High School is now more than just a place for academic learning. It’s a setting where students can feel inspired, comfortable, and engaged. With its thoughtful blend of vibrant colors, open spaces, and dedicated areas for both study and relaxation, the school has been transformed into an environment that fosters growth, well-being, and community.

The relocation of the Helleno-French School “Saint-Paul” a large and historic private educational institution, was a highly challenging project. The school after 130 years of continuous operation in Piraeus, was moved to Alimos, in an existing industrial building of 8,000 square meters total area. The objective was to create a modern and functional new school building, while preserving the identity and tradition of the old one. In this tremendous challenge, we had the support and collaboration of the STIRIXIS group. Through methodical planning and creativity, we jointly addressed the challenges of reconstructing the existing building, transforming it into a state-of-the-art educational facility, both in terms of functionality and aesthetics. We thank the STIRIXIS team for their collaboration and support throughout all phases of the project.
