Our work at Qassim University blends cutting-edge design with cultural heritage, featuring a high-tech auditorium with custom acoustics and a dynamic conference centre for events. Qassim University is designed not only to meet today’s needs but also to inspire future generations of students and faculty.
For this project, we developed designs that reflect Qassim University’s prestige while meeting their functional needs. We seamlessly integrated modern design principles with traditional Arabic aesthetics to create sophisticated, culturally resonant spaces.
The Majilis Conference Centre
The Majilis Conference Centre is a showcase of luxury and cultural heritage. We used intricate geometric patterns and rich materials, such as high-quality woods and textiles, to create an inviting yet grand environment. The space features warm, earthy tones that evoke a sense of tradition while maintaining a modern feel.
Ambient lighting by ALlight is strategically placed to guide visitors through the space, ensuring ease of navigation despite the circular layout. The lighting design also enhances the overall atmosphere, creating a welcoming environment. The centerpiece of the conference centre is the versatile podium area, designed to accommodate various event setups, from roundtable discussions to formal presentations.
The seating arrangement includes a bespoke section for the royal family, crafted with the finest materials and attention to detail. This area not only provides comfort and privacy but also reflects the university’s commitment to excellence.
The Main Auditorium
The main Auditorium, with 2,300 bespoke seats, is an expansive space designed to provide a memorable experience for every attendee. The seating is arranged to ensure clear sightlines and maximum comfort, featuring plush, wide chairs with ample legroom. The gradient of the seating arrangement ensures that even those at the back have an unobstructed view of the stage.
The auditorium’s ceiling is a standout feature, designed with a parametric pattern that mimics a starry night sky. This not only adds a stunning visual element but also improves the acoustics of the space. The materials used in the auditorium change subtly from the front to the back, enhancing the sound quality by strategically balancing sound reflection and absorption.
State-of-the-art lighting solutions by ALlight ensure that every performance and presentation is perfectly illuminated. The stage lighting is adjustable to cater to different events, providing optimal visibility and ambiance. The VIP sections feature ambient and hidden lighting, creating an exclusive and comfortable atmosphere.
