Transforming Coca-Cola HBC Headquarters

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC) is a leader in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry and a key partner of The Coca-Cola Company. With over 30,000 employees across 29 countries, CCHBC serves more than 715 million consumers, showcasing its extensive global reach and impact. Founded in 1951 by A.G. Leventis with the establishment of the Nigerian Bottling Company in Lagos, CCHBC has grown to hold a prominent market position across Western, Central, and Eastern Europe as well as Africa. The company boasts a diverse portfolio of some of the world’s most renowned beverages, including Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Monster Energy, Jack Daniel’s & Cola, Fuze Tea, Costa Coffee, and Powerade.

Driven by the vision of becoming the leading 24/7 beverage partner, CCHBC emphasizes close collaboration with suppliers, consumers, customers, and team members to ensure the highest product quality. This commitment to excellence led CCHBC to seek the expertise of STIRIXIS Executive for redesigning their headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. The goal was to create a space that reflects their innovative spirit and dedication to excellence.

Our collaboration with Coca-Cola HBC began in 2013 with the branding, architectural design, and construction of their headquarters in Athens. This successful partnership set the foundation for further projects, including the design and construction of two floors in their offices in Zug, Switzerland. These floors were designed to mirror the company’s internationally recognizable identity while fostering an environment conducive to collaboration, wellbeing, productivity, and growth.

Recently, our partnership expanded to include the design and delivery of the final two floors of their Zug headquarters, dedicated to middle management and high-level executives. The design brief for this project was ambitious, aiming to extend the existing design elements while incorporating the latest trends in office design. Key objectives included creating an elegant and attractive space for long hours of concentrated individual work and ensuring that the space reflects CCHBC’s strong brand identity and values.

Design Objectives

1. Emphasis on Elegance: The design for the executive floors needed to reflect elegance and friendliness, with a welcoming atmosphere that addresses post-COVID-19 needs.

2. Strong Branding: Aligning the physical space with the company’s mission fosters a sense of pride, unity, and purpose among employees. The design aimed to create a cohesive and immersive environment that employees can unite around.

3. Sustainability and Simplicity: The design supports Coca-Cola HBC Headquarters’ commitment to sustainability, simplicity, team spirit, and a customer-centric approach.

4. Enhanced Productivity: Meeting rooms and closed office designs were crafted to support intense workdays, with special attention to lighting and acoustic design.

5. Optimized Conference Rooms: These rooms feature advanced technology, comfortable seating, and optimal lighting to support long meetings for managers and high-level executives.

Environmental Graphics

The environmental graphics strategy at the Coca-Cola HBC headquarters is a sophisticated and innovative application of the brand’s identity, designed to create a dynamic and visually engaging environment. This approach not only decorates the space but also immerses employees and visitors deeply in the brand’s essence, transforming basic branding elements into an elevated, elegant, and warm presentation.

Different approaches were followed for the environmental graphics on each floor, with the third floor using warm wooden tones and distinct brand colors to create contrast and dynamism, while the fourth floor focused on the retro bottle concept to emphasize CCHBC’s legacy. Biophilic design elements, such as artificial moss backdrops, bring nature indoors, highlighting the company’s commitment to sustainability and enhancing the wellbeing of those within the space.

Three-dimensional elements, like sculpted, backlit Coca-Cola bottles, add tactile interaction, capturing attention and enriching the environmental storytelling with depth through the interplay of light and shadow. Strategically placed iconic imagery ensures continuous engagement, with historical images and modern brand messaging bridging Coca-Cola’s storied past with its innovative present.

The transformation of Coca-Cola HBC Headquarters in Zug is a testament to the power of thoughtful design in enhancing brand identity, employee wellbeing, and productivity. By integrating elegant design elements, strong branding, and sustainability, we have created a dynamic and immersive environment that reflects CCHBC’s values and commitment to excellence. This project not only supports the needs of managers but also fosters a sense of pride and belonging among employees, making the headquarters a true embodiment of CCHBC’s innovative spirit and dedication to creating True Prosperity.
